Publish on Pinterest while you sleep | Full RSS automation

Connecting your site's RSS feed to Pinterest so every new article is pinned automatically, with no WordPress plugin and no daily work.

Pinterest is not a social network like the others: it is a visual search engine. Pins keep bringing visits months after they are published, where a Facebook post is dead in 48 hours. For a site that publishes regularly, there is a way to be present there without spending time on it.

The idea

Your site already publishes an RSS feed — an automatic list of your latest content, updated with every post. On WordPress, it is `yourdomain.com/feed`. Pinterest can read that feed and create a pin for each new item.

Once connected, the chain runs itself: you publish an article, Pinterest picks it up within hours and pins it to the board you chose.

What you need before starting

  • A Pinterest Business account. Free, and it converts from a personal account in two clicks.
  • A confirmed domain. Done in Pinterest settings, by adding a tag or a file to your site. Without it, no statistics and less reach.
  • Your RSS feed address. Check it in a browser: you should see a list of your articles.
  • A dedicated board, with a clear name and a description containing the words your audience searches for.

Setting it up

In Pinterest settings, under Bulk create pins (or "RSS feed", depending on the interface), you add the feed address and choose the destination board. Pinterest verifies the feed, then starts publishing.

The first pins usually appear within 24 hours. That is the only delay to accept: publishing is not instant.

What determines the result

The automation publishes what your site gives it. If your article's image is a horizontal 1200 × 630 rectangle, the pin will be tiny in a feed built for vertical images.

Three things to fix on your site, once and for all:

  • The image format. Pinterest favours vertical 2:3 — 1000 × 1500, for instance. A share image suited to that format changes the whole look.
  • The title. The article title becomes the pin title. A title describing a concrete problem works better than a play on words.
  • The excerpt. It serves as the description. If it is empty, the pin arrives with no text, and therefore no keywords.

The limits to know about

Pinterest dislikes repetition. The feed should send new content only; republishing the same links in a loop hurts the account.

It does not replace a real presence. The accounts that break through also pin by hand, with visuals made for the platform. Automation secures the floor, not the ceiling.

The feed must stay clean. If your site also publishes service pages, internal notes or products in the same feed, all of it goes to Pinterest. If needed, use a feed limited to one category: `yourdomain.com/category/blog/feed`.

Who it is worth it for

A blog, a shop, a site that publishes at least two or three times a month, in a field where images speak: renovation, food, decor, fashion, travel, weddings, landscaping. For an industrial B2B supplier, the return will be low — that hour is better spent elsewhere.
